Police Constable 187 of the Bolton County Borough Police, of 20, Broad-o’th’-Lane, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire prior to being called out for Army Service 06/08/1914. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/203). He was normally resident of Chapen-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, at the time of his death. Died at Broadwater Hospital, Ipswich and interred with full Military Honours at Ipswich. His brother Stephen also served.
